Snakes generally avoid people as much as we avoid them, but sometimes our paths cross. If snakes ever come to disturb peace in your Bethesda home, just give Mid-Atlantic Wildlife Control a call and we’ll remove nuisance snakes safely and humanely. Whether they are interrupting your outdoor summer fun or turning your house into the “snakes on a plane” movie scene, consider them evicted!
Is This Snake Poisonous?
We often get calls from Maryland residents who think they encountered a poisonous snake. In some cases, that turns out to be true, but many times snakes get misidentified. There are two venomous snake species common in Maryland: Northern Copperhead and Timber Rattlesnake. Neither is brightly-color as you would expect from a dangerous snake. Both, in-fact, are rather plain looking and can be easily mistaken for a different snake.
Here is a video showing both of Maryland’s venomous snakes up close. For your own safety, never intentionally approach a snake like this—you will surely get bitten unless you are in a zoo. You will also notice how well Northern Copperhead blends in with foliage—this is something to keep in mind if you are into hiking in Maryland woods.
